Although we’ve bred lots of incredible champion dogs over the years, each one is also a much loved family pet - knowing that each dog is happy and loved is more important than any award.
Meet our pedigree dogs
Schondara Schnauzers has a well-established line of quality pedigree Schnauzer dogs, carefully selected over many years. As a Miniature Schnauzer breeder who also shows and competes with their dogs, I've learnt a lot about the breed and what to look for in terms of breed-type, appearance, skills and most importantly health and temperament. The breeding mums and dads undergo genetic DNA profile testing for hereditary conditions and are up to date with all health checks recommended by Dogs NZ for the breed. Our Miniature Schnauzers are raised as part of a family, not just for breeding or showing, so our dogs and their puppies are well-loved and fully socialised. Meet our Mums and Dads
Pedigree Breeding Dogs
Welcome to my mums and dads containing generations of my pedigree breeding lines combined with newer imported stock to broaden and improve our gene pool. In addition to these lovely boys, on occasion, I may use stud dogs from other approved Kennels who also undertake rigorous genetic testing.
Castrol
'Castrol' is my oldest breeding boy and the last dog to debut in the breed show ring before I started competing in dog sports. 'Castrol’s' breeding goes back to the early ’Brickmark’ lines that originated in USA and were shown throughout NZ. He is a handsome boy with a terrific personality much a homely guy spending the evening curled up on the couch. 'Castrol' is the uncle of ‘Karli’ and great uncle of ‘Sophie’
Wilson
'Wilson' is my only pepper and salt boy. He is of Schondara breeding incorporating my champion lines with newly imported Australian stock. He is a fun dog, very loving and athletic spending much of his time running on the beach and climbing rocks, with fetch being his favourite pastime activity. This is reflected in his offspring who are also busy and ready to take on the world.
Archie
'Archie' is a handsome black and silver boy of Schondara breeding. Incorporating my champions with some older imported Australian lines. He is a devoted companion with an intelligent and serious side to him. His plan will be to hold my lines to be breed back to my next generation of breeding girls.
Winston
'Winston' is a black and silver boy, imported into Schondara to compliment my girls as well as bringing new stunning lines from Czech Republic champions. Winston likes taking part in any activity yet just as happy to chill when appropriate. His progeny is exceptional settling well into family life.
AJ
'AJ' is a black boy imported into Schondara to compliment my girls as well as bringing new stunning lines from Spain champions. He has a strong harsh black coat and athletic build which makes him suitable to improve my sporting agility lines. He thrives on being part of the family and just loves to play with other dogs he meets on his walks. ‘Quattro’ is his daughter I am currently training to be my next sporting dog champion.
Axel
'Axel' is the latest black boy who has been imported into Schondara to compliment my girls, as well as bringing new stunning qualities from different lines of Czech Republic champions. His beautiful head and top line will continue to improve my true ‘schnauzer type’. He is a super family member, full of life and very confident, yet a gentleman, around other dogs.
Persil
‘Persil’ (or Persil White after a bath) is Schondara’s first, handsome, home-bred pure white stud dog. Like his sister SnoW he is a welcomed addition and will provide a sound foundation, being true to ‘schnauzer type’ and having a combination of different white lines from Czech Republic and Australia. He is full of confidence being a very social lad, enjoying meeting other dogs especially the girls! He wants to be part of everything and thrives on playing games, going for walks. A dog full of energy just living life to the fullest.
Karli
Karli is one of my older pure black breeding girls whose lines originated in USA and were combined with some newer imported stock from Australia. Her long reach of neck and balanced proportions have been passed on to her beautiful offspring. Karli loves to play with toys and has travelled far in the campervan.
Molli
‘Molli’ is a pure black daughter of ‘Castrol’. She is carrying on the very typical solid build from the older lines. Molli is a pleasure to have as a companion and take for walks as she rarely barks with her laid back cruisey nature. She gets on well with children and makes a point of being part of the family.
Belladee
‘Belladee’ is a charming black and silver lady from my older breeding lines mixed with the earlier imported Australian lines. Her father sired her at 12 years and her grandfather is still going strong at 14 years. Not to be left behind ‘Belladee’ is a sea fairing girl who travels the seas in a yacht. She is just as happy snuggling up as playing with her toys.
Sophie
‘Sophie’ is Schondara’s next generation of ‘gorgeous’ black breeding girls - a daughter of Karli, where her beautiful lines have been blended with an impressive Australian white sire. Sophie is such a devoted companion, eager to meet and please everyone, perfection in every way. As a loving mum her calm demeanor is passing through to her pups. Sophie has produced Schondara’s first stunning pure white schnauzers ‘Persil’ & ‘SnoW’
SnoW
SnoW (known on her ‘bath days’ as ‘Snow White’) is Schondara’s first stunning, home-bred pure white breeding girl. She is a welcomed addition and will provide a sound foundation, being true to ‘schnauzer type’ and having a combination of different white lines from Czech Republic and Australia. Her confident, cheeky temperament - keeping everyone on their toes! is balanced by a truly affectionate, cuddly personality and she is dearly loved by everyone who meets her.
Peaches
Peaches is Schondara's next generation, carrying on the true 'Schnauzer Type', being a daughter of Molli blended with an impressive Australian white sire.
Peaches is the perfect combination, as full of life being a devoted family member and part of the action, balanced with calmness when needed. She loves children especially when they play ball.
Ebony
'Ebony' has captured the beautiful black coat from her mother 'Sophie' and her spirit from her father 'Winston'. Ebony is very energetic and playful with a high retrieve quality not always seen. She is known to be very talkative always wanting the last say in maters. The affectionate trait carries on in my lines and miss snuggle bug is no exception. She is a pleasure to have as part of my breeding girls.
Gracie
'Gracie' being a daughter of 'Sophie' and 'Winston' has captured her fathers beautiful black and silver markings and love for life as well as her mothers affection. Gracie is adventurous with a distinctive agile spring in her step. Toys with a squeak are her favourite pass time yet she is just as happy to cuddle up. Friendly with everyone and known as the "Devoted little Darling". As Gracie has only one litter planned we will make this a special with just the perfect match for her.
Meet Our Sporting Dogs
After dabbling in different dogs sports such agility, obedience and Rally-O just for fun I found my miniature schnauzers excelled and before long we were competing in all fields. I was hooked on having fun with my dogs. They were very forgiving as I learned all the new skills of these dogs sports. My dogs have always been a pleasure to run in agility with the highlight being the team effort to achieve a clear, fast run with a ribbon or two at the end. So after twenty years of breed showing the stripping knife was put away and the show lead hung up for good.
Izzy Whiz

'Izzy' was my first home-bred competitive agility and obedience miniature schnauzer. She was my special wee mate, chosen for her outstanding drive, intelligence and willingness to please. 'Izzy' became Schondara’s first Agility GRAND Champion.
Viper

'Viper' another special girl followed in Izzy’s footsteps and achieved her prestigious Agility GRAND Champion title. We travelled the country having fun for over 11 years and she is now retired. She is still competing in less demanding dog sports and recently obtained her Canine Good Citizen Gold award and actively competes in Rally-O and scenting sports.
Jayme
AgGrCh Schondara Go Jayme Go JDX
It was a great pleasure to send an agility dog to Lyn Sayers, a judge and competitor from the north island. He had a lot of fun competing in agility with his special companion 'Jayme' and gained the prestigious title of Agility GRAND Champion. She knew when it was time to compete. “It was like she had a switch that turned her from a cuddly toy into a fierce competitor:”. Together they have competed in New Zealand and Australian national events and in both 2012 and 2014 Jayme won Australian titles.
Teekatoo
Schondara Peekaboo Teekatoo ADX JD GD SA ACS AIS AES AVS CGCG
'Teekatoo' is Schondara’s next up-and-coming star and although primarily competing in agility, her passion is scent work and already, after 6 months, is now competing in excellent searches. This busy girl has also gained her Canine Good Citizen Gold award and is currently competing in Rally-O and obedience.
Meet Our Show Dogs
My breed show career spanned 20 years over which time I enjoyed grooming and preparing the dogs for showing as well as the challenge and the excitement of gaining ‘Best of Breed’ and other titles in the show ring. Fun was spent showing both my own breeding as well as those new dogs imported into my kennels to improve the quality of my breeding. Through understanding the NZ breed standard, and with access to other stud dogs, at the time, my lines improved to reflect the true NZ pedigree miniature schnauzer and I went on to breed over 20 NZ champions to my Kennel name.
